About EUSMS

Entrepreneurship, Universal ethical principles, Stocicism, Mindfulness, and Scepticism (EUSMS) is a Munich-based nonprofit helping entrepreneurs in East Africa build sustainable businesses. EUSMS provides mentorship, microcredit funding, and development aid to empower aspiring business owners. We share EUSMS’s belief in ‘teaching how to fish instead of giving bread’ – focusing on empowerment over charity. This alignment of values is what inspired our involvement.

Our Role

As the Chief Financial Officer of EUSMS (a pro-bono leadership role), Ross oversees all financial strategy and stewardship for the nonprofit. This includes guiding risk management and compliance, budgeting for projects across Germany and Kenya, and implementing rigorous financial controls to ensure donor funds are used effectively. With over 15 years in corporate finance, audit, and governance, Ross volunteers his expertise to help EUSMS structure its resources and priorities – strengthening financial systems so the organization can maximize its impact.

Impact & Achievements

When Drapalski first partnered with EUSMS, the organization needed stronger processes and a capable team. By securing over €50,000 in donated technology and helping recruit 50+ volunteers, we enabled EUSMS gGmbH to quickly scale.
Today, EUSMS is active from Kenya to Tanzania and Uganda, has formed its first university partnerships in East Africa, supported three women’s protection legal cases, issued two microloans, carried out charitable activities at a local children’s hospital, and launched its first entrepreneurship cohort with 10+ entrepreneurs.

Why It Matters to Our Clients:

Drapalski’s work with EUSMS isn’t just philanthropy – it hones the very skills we offer to you. Navigating the financial challenges of a nonprofit with strict budgets and high accountability has made us even more adept at creative problem-solving and transparent reporting. Clients often tell us they value this “nonprofit mindset” because it means we treat their business finances with the same duty of care and efficiency we apply to donor funds. And as EUSMS’s impact grows, community recognition of our service ethos has reinforced client trust and opened new partnerships.
This experience is especially relevant as Africa’s economy continues to accelerate. According to UN projections, growth is expected to rise from 3.4% in 2024 to 3.7% in 2025 and 4.0% in 2026, with East Africa leading regional performance. Simply put, leading financial strategy in a mission-driven organization—especially in one of the world’s fastest-growing regions—strengthens Drapalski’s ability to lead in any organization.
